Why Core Aeration?
Roots require oxygen to grow and to absorb nutrients and water. Over time, compaction slows that process.
What is Core Aeration?
Core aeration is the process of making thousands of small holes in the turf. The holes allow fertilizer, water, and air to reach the root zone quicker, resulting in new growth and increased root development. These holes also open up the soil and help reduce thatch build up and soil compaction, allowing your lawn to breath and thrive.
For heavier dense thatch build-up, we now offer a dethatching service to remove old grass clippings for the layer just above the soil, providing your grass with more room to grow resulting in a thicker lawn.
When is the best time to core aerate?
The best time to aerate your warm-season lawn (Bermuda, Zoysia, Centipede, St. Augustine) is spring and early summer. The best time to aerate your Tall Fescue lawn is in the fall, in conjunction with fall reseeding.
